Fremont County (Fremont County)
Fremont County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census the population was 6,605, making it the state's seventh-least populous county. The county seat is Sidney. The county was formed in 1847 and named for the military officer John C. Fremont.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 517 sqmi, of which 511 sqmi is land and 5.5 sqmi (1.1%) is water.

Indigenous peoples have inhabited the Americas for thousands of years. Beginning in 1607, British colonization led to the establishment of the Thirteen Colonies in what is now the Eastern United States. With the Union's victory and preservation, slavery was abolished nationally by the Thirteenth Amendment.
